CEO Corner: A Year of Resilience, Impact, and Resolve

As we close out 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on a year that tested Hearth in new ways and reaffirmed why our mission matters so deeply.

Throughout the year, the constant risk of funding disruption shaped nearly every decision we made. At the same time, the need around us continued to grow. National data shows a rising number of older adults facing homelessness, and we experienced this firsthand. More older adults came to Hearth seeking outreach, prevention support, and stability, often with complex and urgent needs.

Despite these pressures, 2025 exceeded expectations.

Because of the commitment of our staff and the generosity of our funders and donors, Hearth served more older adults through outreach and prevention this year than ever before. We were able to meet increased demand because we worked aggressively to secure new sources of funding, strengthen partnerships, and steward resources responsibly.

Looking ahead to 2026, uncertainty remains. Potential changes to HUD policies and a shift away from permanent supportive housing models could significantly affect how older adults experiencing homelessness access long-term stability.

Still, I remain confident.

With your continued support, Hearth will adapt, advocate, and continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The challenges ahead are real, but so is our resolve.

Thank you for standing with us during a year that demanded resilience, creativity, and trust.

With gratitude,

Rhonda Pieroni
President and CEO
