The Hearth Annual Gala brings together a community who believes no one should grow old without a home. This evening isn’t just about celebration, but about action. Guests will meet the people behind the statistics: older adults who have moved from the streets into stable housing, of health restored, and of dignity reclaimed. Featuring transformational stories, a vibrant dinner program, and opportunities to effect change through silent and live auctions, as well as a paddle raise, this is a night to keep our mission burning bright. All proceeds will help ensure older adults have the support and stability they deserve.
Honoring Dr. Howard K. Koh
This year, we are proud to present the Anna Bissonnette Award to Dr. Howard K. Koh, a lifelong advocate for public health and equity. Dr. Koh’s tireless work to advance health access and uplift the most vulnerable mirrors Hearth’s mission. His leadership continues to inspire systemic change and deeper compassion in service of those in need.
Dr. Koh’s contributions include:
- Former U.S. Assistant Secretary for Health, leading national initiatives on health equity.
- Current Professor at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Chair of its Initiative on Health and Homelessness.
- Former Massachusetts Commissioner of Public Health, advancing efforts in prevention and health disparities.
- Published over 325 articles and secured $28M+ in research funding across medicine and public health.
- Recipient of 70+ honors, including the APHA’s highest award and the MLK Jr. Legacy Award for National Service.
