Hearth's 2009 Annual Meeting: Social Innovation

This year’s theme was Social Innovation in honor of the selection of Hearth’s Outreach Program as a 2009 Social Innovator by the Social Innovation Forum.

Our keynote speaker was Susan Musinsky, Executive Director of the Social Innovation Forum, a Root Cause initiative.

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care was this year’s Distinguished Service Award, in recognition of their innovative approach to corporate responsibility - through their employee volunteer program and their 9/11 Community Spirit Mini-Grant program.

The outpouring of support from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care employees has been tremendous, and we were thrilled to honor them. Lisa Farnham accepted the award on behalf of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and also announced that they would like to arrange another trip to the Quincy Pops for Hearth's residents.

At the meeting Hearth thanked Mary S. Parker for her six years of hard work and dedication as chair of the Board of Directors. Bob Wadsworth was voted in as the new chair. Mary will continue to serve on the board. Retiring from the board was Sue Forti, who will join the Board of Visitors and remain activie on the Institutional Advancement and Friends of Hearth committees.

Three new members joined the Board of Directors: Bob Houlihan, Laura Henze Russel, and Marilyn Miller.
